they seem so much longer without you

These days, they seem so much longer. I am sitting here, trying to avoid the thought of a 1500 word essay, which I should do today. I am good at avoiding those sorts of things. Its really quiet here today, my dad works most of the time, and my mom just left to Regina with my sister for the weekend, its good, cause I like quiet. Dare I say that I am lonely? Yes, its true, I am. It gets pretty boring when you end up just sitting in the same spot by yourself for the whole day. I have been trying to get onto msn for the past while, and my msn does not seem to work today, maybe thats good? Maybe not.

Anyways, as you can see - I have changed my current listenings on the side of the page. I have been discovering some new artists over the time spent sitting here so I will go through them, explain, and tell whats to like and not to like.

The weepies - Say I am you
I have been hearing quite a bit of talk about the weepies and I never really made much of it. I decided to finally take a good listen through (what I believe) is their latest album. I am constantly pulled in by the female vocalist. She has a very odd voice, yet it is fresh. Their folk pop sound is something that I could listen to everyday and not get sick of. Definitly one of my current listenings right now.

Nick Drake - Pink moon
One of the artists that I have become attatched to over the past year is Denison Witmer, and I was listening to a podcast that he was telling a story on, he talked about how he was greatly influenced by Nick Drake. This was not the first time I heard talk about nick drake, I heard from a few other people that he was quite good as well. I felt at home when I played the first track off of this album. The first few tracks are Just voice and guitar, and I love it. He has a voice that you could pick out of a crowd, its nice to hear something fresh (how I have only started listening to Nick Drake now, that I don't know?)

Wilco - Sky Blue Sky
Need I say anything for this? I like it a lot more then Yankee Hotel Fox Trot. I find that its pretty chill, He also loves his guitar solos in a few songs (not that I enjoy guitar solos or anything...) When I was first going to listen to this album, a friend recomended listening to the track entitled "impossible germany" - and it still stands as my favorite track on the album. I think I can safely say that this album will stick with me all summer.

Ben Folds - rockin' the suburbs
The pop goodness of Ben Folds. He is pretty brilliant with his awesome piano melodies... Etc. I have gotten into all of Ben's latest albums, and my friend showed me this one a while back. The song Zak and Sara definitly is a favorite and is one I can never get sick of. Its a morning album, something to start my day when staying in bed seems like the only option.

The american analog set - the golden band
Once again, need I say more? TAAS is another one of those bands that can listen to all day and not get sick of. It is so simple, and so complex. They know how much to do, and when to do it. They never over do anything, which is the key part to that band I think. Its pretty relaxed such as most of their albums are. The song "weather report" stands out for me, but realistically - the whole album is awesome.

Thats it for now. Make sure to check out some of these artists.
If at all able - Go outside! Its beautiful, I wish I was not stuck on the couch.
