a walk down memory lane...

oh man...
SO in school For one of my classes (information processing) I had to make a video about a certian subject. I did my video on the band I was previously in, Autumn tides. It had a bunch of photos, interview talking to people about the group, and just lots of stuff like that... it definitly reminded me how much I loved the band... even though by the fall of the band I definitly disliked it cause of some of the junk that happened. but watching the video, seeing the pictures, listening to the song, all of those reminded me of what autumn tides was in the begining. i definitly can remeber our first show; battle of bands at pumpkin smash. I remeber all of the pratices... for two weeks straight we practiced 2 hours at a time probably 3 or 4 times a week. I remeber the practice the day of the show. I dont think that I have ever felt so nevous in my whole life. Walking through the doors at the soccer center into the battle zone; so to speak. And the feeling after we won was the best feeling ever, and the start to an incredible journey.
Soon after that we continued on, writing new music, playing shows (something I thought would never happen). One band that really brought us under their wing was stereotrap. They let us open for them a number of times and thats one of the parts of our journey that was a blast. We became great friends with the guys, often over pizza at bosten pizza after shows. And good times those were. Things were great until the first fall out... cole quit autumn tides in febuary, a couple days before our second battle of the bands at louis. this was a very large deal because it left us without a drummer for a large competition. and a very hard spot to fill. enter stage right, jordan kurtz, a guy that has changed my life drastically, he has tought me so much its incredible... I love the guy. And having in come into the picture was one of the best things that ever happened to the band. He took our music and put a spin on a lot of our already "good" songs. it was great.
Recording the record. Definitly an amazing experience. I dont even know what to say about it. Sure it doesnt do justice to the live performances but itll be cool to show my kids someday, the music I wrote and played. By the time the band was Over I needed it to be... there was a lot of stressful times through out the band but thats ok.
Sitting back know I can see that autumn tides was definitly a time of preperation for a few of the guys, including me. Im super stoked to see what God has planned for me in the future and How he will work in my life and through me. I really Hope im back playing music with a group in fall but I guess we will have to wait and see!
That was a nice long one... thanks for reading. just for old times sake visit an autumn tides website of your choice. www.myspace.com/autumntides, www.purevolume.com/autumntides

with love, zachary
